Work With New Growth

Strategic communication for the way utilities buy.

Whether you need a stronger communication system, a critical piece of content, or support on a high-stakes utility proposal, the work starts with the same question: what will help utility buyers understand your value, trust your claims and move toward a decision?

New Growth works with utility vendors in three ways:

NewGrowth Engine for Utility Vendors™

When the system needs work, we start here.

Sometimes the problem isn’t a missing white paper or another campaign. It’s the system behind the communication.

The NewGrowth Engine for Utility Vendors™ starts with how utilities make decisions: the stages they move through, the stakeholders involved, and the message and proof each needs along the way. That lens helps identify where your commercial communication can better support the buying process. From there, we design the messaging, content, workflows and measurement needed to strengthen the system.

Each phase builds on the last. The work begins with a Diagnostic that shows you what’s working, where the gaps are, and what deserves attention first. Then, you can use the findings to build the system internally, or we can work together to design and operationalize it.

The Engine may be the right fit if:

  • You produce plenty of content, but sales doesn’t use it consistently.

  • Content priorities are driven more by immediate requests and deadlines than by a clear commercial strategy.

  • Your communication favors some utility stakeholders or buying stages, leaving important gaps elsewhere.

  • Your technical expertise is strong, but your value, differentiation or proof isn’t always recognized by buyers.

  • You track marketing activity but still can’t tell what is helping deals progress.

“Bart brings a lot of value to the table. He’s a top-notch strategic thinker when it comes to communications.”
— Howard Connell, former Managing Director, Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business

Strategic Content Development

When the need is specific, the work can be too.

Not every communication challenge requires a system-level engagement. Sometimes the need is clear: a major white paper, a customer story, an executive point of view, new product messaging, or a technically complex piece of sales content.

I continue to develop high-value content for utility vendors when the work calls for deep industry context, technical translation, and a clear understanding of who the content needs to reach and what it needs to accomplish.

Typical engagements

  • White papers and industry reports
  • Customer case studies and proof assets
  • Executive thought leadership and bylined articles
  • Technical and business articles
  • Website and product messaging
  • Sales-enablement content
  • Major campaign and conference assets

Build the capability, not just the next asset.

For teams that need more content capacity, I can also design custom AI tools and workflows that help your team create high-quality content more efficiently.

This is not about replacing subject-matter expertise or editorial judgment with generic AI output. The tools are built around your source material, messaging, audiences, and review requirements so your team can move faster without lowering the standard.

Examples might include:

  • SME interview-to-draft workflows

  • Technical source material transformed into stakeholder-specific content

  • Webinar or presentation content repurposed into articles, sales materials, and social posts

  • Brand- and messaging-informed drafting tools

  • Evidence-controlled workflows that require source validation before claims are used

A focused content or proposal engagement can stand on its own. If the work surfaces a broader communication-system problem, we can address that separately through the NewGrowth Engine.

“We’ve worked with other writers and editors in the past, but none matched his level of professionalism and talent. From pulling ideas onto the blank page to carefully addressing concerns of voice and language, he’s clearly invested in facilitating our thought leadership and copywriting. Frankly, I’m not sure how we would produce this much content without him.”

Utility RFP & Proposal Support

Turn technical capability into a proposal evaluators can understand and trust.

A utility RFP brings technical requirements, commercial value, proof and differentiation together in one high-stakes document. The challenge is making sure the response clearly communicates how your solution is credible, relevant and a strong fit.

I provide editorial support for complex utility proposals, working with your proposal lead and SMEs to turn technical source material, customer evidence and commercial differentiators into clear, persuasive proposal narrative.

This is writing and editorial work, not proposal management.

New Growth does not manage the RFP process, own the compliance matrix, coordinate contributors and deadlines, develop pricing, provide legal or contract review, or administer the final submission.

Your internal proposal lead or proposal-management team remains responsible for the process. I focus on the quality of the communication within it.

Some communication challenges don’t fit neatly into system design, content development or proposal support. If you’re not sure which kind of help makes sense, we can start with a conversation.
